Places to visit - The National Botanic Garden of Wales
I visited the National Botanic Garden of Wales on the 18th May 2024. Weather wise there was rain and thunder predicted but we didn’t seem to get any of that whilst we were there. It was a bit over cast at times but also very warm.
The Garden was opened in 2000 and has the largest domed glass house in the UK. Also to be found here is a small palm house, bird of prey centre, walled garden as well as various trails and walks including a Grufalo trail that children would enjoy.
There are plenty of benches dotted around the site, a mini cafe inside the domed glass house and a larger cafe near by. There is a small gift shop here too.
You really need to spend the whole day here to see it all.
Near by places to visit are Paxtons Tower (which I was able to see in the distance from the Botanic gardens), Castell Carreg Cennen and the Gwili Steam Railway.
I took the opportunity to try out a Canon EOS R6 mark ii camera that I had recently purchased. I was quite pleased with the results. Some of the photos I took on my visit can be seen here:
